ADEL FAIR TRADE 

Created in 2011, ADEL is a dynamic non-profit organization for sustainable agriculture and fair trade in Palestine. ADEL specializes in marketing organic fresh produce from low-income and marginalized producers, as well as processed goods prepared by female food cooperatives. By providing outlets for small farmers and family-headed or female initiatives, ADEL contributes to building an alternative economic model.

ADEL’s vision is grounded in the principles of the social solidarity economy. It emphasizes fair living wages for both men and women (80% of ADEL’s farmers or food producers are women), healthier lifestyles, protection of the natural ecosystem, as well as the promotion of solidarity between producers and consumers at the local and national level.

By connecting smallholders directly to markets, ADEL improves the livelihood of farmers and strengthens food security in Palestine. The organization also encourages communal ties, gender equality, and the overall transformation of the way Palestinians produce and consume food for overall healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.
